If you have been thinking that you would like to take a leap in your professional career and would like to study or work abroad, but the thought of how you can organize yourself to take such an important step overwhelms you, we understand! and that is why we have prepared a list that you can use to guide you and prepare you to undertake the adventure of a lifetime.

This whole process can be a bit stressful. If you are not super organized or feel anxious you can miss important things. That's why the best thing to do is to start planning everything ahead of time. Identify what your objective is, and based on that you will be able to make every step you take closer to your goal.

Here is a checklist that will be very useful when organizing your trip:

Prepare your documentation

Make sure you have all the necessary documents up to date, this step should be done at least 3 months before your trip.

Organize your documents, keep them up to date, get the certificates you need and make photocopies of everything (our consultants are available to help you with the documentation you need in each country, register and get a free consultation).

  • Passport: make sure you have your passport up to date, and that it is valid for at least 6 months. If you are traveling with your partner or children, check that you all have your documents in order to be able to make the trip and avoid any last minute inconvenience.

  • Choose the course you want to take: based on your needs and preferences decide whether you want to learn English or take a postgraduate course. There are courses and studies that adapt to your needs and professional goals. There are different schools, some with a more youthful and relaxed atmosphere if you want flexible schedules so that you can make friends, travel and get to know the country. Others are more academically demanding, for those who are 100% focused on learning.

  • Visa: keep in mind that for the visa application you must prepare some documents such as resume, passport, letter of intent, academic and work certificates (the documents that are in Spanish must be translated). If you have any doubts, you can contact our advisors who will accompany you every step of the way.

Once your visa has been approved

  • Buy your plane ticket: you can now choose the date to travel and buy your ticket. Remember that if you do it in advance you can get better prices.

  • Find a place to stay: research possible lodging options according to your needs and budget. We advise you to look for places that suit your lifestyle so that you can enjoy your stay.

Get ready to travel

  • Ask your doctor for copies of your medical records and check your insurance coverage. If you take any medications, make sure you have the necessary prescriptions or supplies and where to get them.

  • Do you have a pet: get all its papers in order if you take it with you or get a responsible person to take care of it.

  • Prepare a small kit with essential medicines that you can take with you and have on hand if you need them so that you don't spend money buying medicine if you get the flu or have a minor ailment.

1 week before the trip

  • Cancel subscription services: especially if they are on automatic payment. Be sure to do this before you leave, otherwise it may be difficult to communicate with you once you are abroad.

  • Organize a party to say goodbye to friends and family and celebrate the step you are about to take, which will undoubtedly be a life-changing experience.

  • Wash the clothes you are going to take, so that you have time to organize them and do not forget anything. Try not to take extra luggage, it is always preferable to choose basic and combinable garments. There you will surely be able to renew your wardrobe, and when you return you will not have to carry everything old and new or leave things behind because they do not fit in your luggage.

  • Decide what you are going to take with you ahead of time, pack what is essential and important. The most important items such as documents and money should be separated.

If you've checked everything off this list, you're ready to embark on a life-changing adventure. You will meet a new culture, new friends and you will be able to raise your professional level, making you more competitive and more likely to find a good job upon your return.
